Feather explores the boundary between the material and the immaterial through the bold use of plastic. At first glance, the work evokes the lightness and delicacy of a cocoon or a spread wing, but closer inspection reveals the rough texture of plastic, a material often perceived as soulless.
The contrast between the suppleness of the folds and the rigid protection offered by the plastic creates a palpable tension, symbolizing the duality between the fragility of the soul and the protective force that surrounds it. The shades of gradient colors, with touches of purple and white, reinforce this idea of a spiritual essence in transformation, both vulnerable and resilient.
By manipulating a material as prosaic and industrial as plastic, the artist manages to transcend its nature, making it almost organic, even sacred. This work invites us to reflect on our own nature, on how we protect ourselves, and on the beauty that can be found in ordinary objects when they are imbued with deeper meaning.
